On May 11 1966, models Diane James and Jina Baker take part in a risqué publicity stunt in the window of Lady Jane Boutique on Carnaby Street. The two models, wearing very little, became living mannequins. The shoppers in the street stopped to watch although it wasn’t long before the Metropolitan police did too, resulting in a visit to Marlborough Street Magistrates Court for Henry Moss, the owner of the boutique, and a fine of two pounds. The publicity stunt was the idea of then PR man Michael Freedland– father of Guardian journalist Jonathan Freedland. Cat Stevens, according to wikipedia worked in the boutique for a short time and customers included Martha & the Vandellas, Nancy Sinatra, Mia Farrow, Julia Foster, Joan Collins and her then husband Anthony Newley.
